Job Title - Junior Database Engineer

Full time 

Location - Washington ,DC

Active Secret clearance required

Position Summary

The Database Engineer designs, builds, and optimizes enterprise database platforms supporting Department of State mission systems, with emphasis on database architecture, automation, and modernization across on-premises and cloud environments, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Exadata platforms.

At the Junior level, the Database Engineer performs engineering tasks under the direction of senior staff, supporting builds, patching, monitoring, and documented migration and automation activities.

Responsibilities

โ€ข   Support the build, configuration, and maintenance of database environments under direction

โ€ข   Execute defined patching, monitoring, and backup and recovery procedures

โ€ข   Assist with migration and automation tasks following documented runbooks

โ€ข   Maintain environment documentation and configuration records

โ€ข   Escalate complex issues to senior engineers with clear diagnostic detail

Qualifications

โ€ข   Active Secret clearance

โ€ข   Experience supporting mission-critical, high-availability environments

โ€ข   Strong written and verbal communication skills

โ€ข   Foundational experience with at least one enterprise RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL)

โ€ข   Basic scripting ability (Python, Shell, or PowerShell)
