Position Description:

Implements and supports financial database technology assets in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud environment. Builds database architecture and manages administration of Oracle database and replication technologies -- Golden Gate. Drives technology product lifecycle management and delivers cross dependency application database infrastructure initiatives. Automates and streamlines manual processes, using Python and AWS technologies. Establishes performance tuning criteria and methods in coordination with internal and external technical resources. Provides technology strategic roadmap for technology lifecycle management. Defines requirements and operational procedures to ensure network integrity, physical protection, and authorized access to the network and applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Triages complex technical problems to restore services and implement actions to prevent recurring incidents.
  • Modifies existing databases and database management systems and collaborates with programmers and analysts to make changes.
  • Documents designing, operational procedures, and standards for highly complex/business critical databases.
  • Provides database production support for enterprise critical applications.
  • Tests and implements new design features for general use.
  • Defines and implements standards for database design and performance.
  • Designs, evaluates, and executes highly complex database performance and functionality testing.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects.
  • Provides technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and techniques in order to minimize future incident occurrence.

Education and Experience:

Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle database administration in a financial service or financial services IT solutions environment.

Or, alternatively, Masterโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Database Administrator (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle database administration in a financial service or financial services IT solutions environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (โ€œDEโ€) designing, developing, and implementing mission critical data-base infrastructure solutions to ensure compliance with business continuity ratings and audit access policies, using Oracle RMAN database backup and recovery utilities, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Delphix Appliances, and Oracle disaster recovery Data Guard technologies.
  • DE providing production and non-production technical database support -- triaging, resolving, and providing root cause analysis -- in an integrated asset management trading environment, using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) tools; and mining and analyzing Golden Gate database replication and Oracle trace files.
  • DE evaluating, testing, and certifying Oracle, Snowflake, and Golden Gate Microservices data-base product features; implementing and supporting Oracle fine grained database access using VPD; performing impact analysis of Oracle database optimizer changes and performance analysis, using Oracle XPLAN and SQL optimizer trace; and implementing SQL pro-files and baselines using SQL plan management.
  • DE assessing and testing database infrastructure changes, capacity management, service requests, automated incidents, and change management to evaluate business risk from a server, storage, network, and database perspective, using Service Now; and ensuring infrastructure changes adhere to Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), and change management and security access procedures and policies.
