Job description

Description:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Information Technology team. This role is ideal for an early-career IT professional with experience in Microsoft SQL Server and relational database management who is eager to grow their technical skills. The Junior DBA will assist in administering, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise database environments while ensuring data integrity, security, and availability. Working closely with senior database administrators and application developers, you will support database operations, perform backups and recovery activities, troubleshoot performance issues, and contribute to the design and implementation of database solutions that support critical business operations.
-Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases and other Database Management Systems (DBMS). -Monitor database performance and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal availability and reliability. -Conduct database performance tuning, including query optimization and index maintenance. -Perform and validate database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures. -Monitor transaction logs, database health, storage utilization, and system performance. -Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining database security, permissions, and access controls. -Develop, modify, and troubleshoot SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers. -Support database replication and synchronization between SQL Servers and remote locations. -Review database designs and recommend enhancements to improve performance, scalability, and reliability. -Assist developers and system analysts in creating and maintaining SQL and web-based database applications. -Maintain technical documentation, database standards, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). -Audit and update database records using SQL commands while ensuring data accuracy and integrity. -Support database migration, patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities. -Participate in database project planning and scheduling. -Provide technical support for database-related incidents and troubleshoot production issues. -Assist with Oracle database administration, monitoring, and daily health checks.-Support database backup, recovery, and Data Pump export/import operations.-Monitor database performance and assist with troubleshooting Oracle errors.-Create and maintain database users, roles, and privileges.-Perform schema refreshes between Production, Test, and Development environments.-Monitor tablespace usage, storage growth, and archive logs.-Write and maintain SQL and shell scripts for automation.-Support database security, auditing, and compliance requirements.-Maintain database documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.-Work with developers to troubleshoot database-related issues and support application deployments.-Participate in on-call support and maintenance windows as needed
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server or other relational database systems.
  • Experience writing SQL queries for data retrieval and modification.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  • Understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, primary keys, foreign keys, and indexing.
  • Basic knowledge of backup and recovery procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with SQL Server Agent, replication, or database automation.
