Junior Data Architect

Columbus, OH (Hybrid)

Contract-to-hire - $28/hr


Our utilities client is looking to hire a Junior Data Architect to support a growing data team focused on building an enterprise data lake. This initiative is centered around bringing data from across the organization into one place to support key business use cases.


This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is interested in working with data and wants to grow into a more advanced data engineering or architecture role over time. You’ll work alongside experienced team members, gain hands-on experience, and build your skills in a collaborative environment.


What You’ll Do:

  • Support efforts to bring data from multiple sources into a centralized data platform
  • Help clean, organize, and transform data so it can be easily used for reporting and analysis
  • Work with data from APIs (such as JSON) and help turn it into structured tables and datasets
  • Write and maintain Python and SQL code to support data processing and transformation
  • Assist with building and improving data models used across different teams
  • Work within tools like Databricks and cloud-based data platforms
  • Collaborate with data engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders on project needs
  • Participate in problem-solving discussions and help break down complex or open-ended questions
  • Gain exposure to both technical work and how data supports business decisions


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with Python (through coursework, projects, or internships) required
  • Experience with SQL
  • Basic understanding of data concepts (data analysis, data engineering, or data modeling)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms or data tools like Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery is a plus
  • Interest in working with different types of data, including unstructured data
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work on a team

Preferred Backgrounds:
