Job description

The Senior Platform Engineer designs, implements, and supports enterprise infrastructure solutions with a primary focus on the IBM i platform. This role partners with business and IT teams to evaluate technical requirements, develop scalable and secure infrastructure solutions, and ensures the performance of enterprise systems. They serve as a technical subject matter expert, resolves complex infrastructure issues, and drives continuous improvement through proactive planning and modernization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Design, implement, maintain, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions with a primary focus on the IBM i platform.
Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements to develop infrastructure solutions that align with organizational needs.
Evaluate current-state environments and recommend future-state architecture with implementation plans that improve overall system operations.
Monitor enterprise infrastructure and analyze system performance to proactively identify risks, capacity needs, and opportunities for improvement.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, operating system, hardware, software, and application issues while serving as a technical escalation point.
Configure and support enterprise operating environments, software installations, system updates, and infrastructure components following established standards.
Design, execute, and document infrastructure testing and validation to ensure solutions meet technical and business requirements.
Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls while supporting compliance with organizational standards and best practices.
Coordinate with vendors and third-party providers to resolve technical issues and support infrastructure maintenance activities.
Provide technical guidance, training, and knowledge sharing to users and team members.
Participate in on-call support and respond to critical infrastructure incidents as required.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve infrastructure capabilities, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Strong experience managing and troubleshooting infrastructure on IBM i platform.
Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems using prescribed solution options.
Experience reviewing requirements, evaluating recommendations, and developing appropriate technical plans.
Ability to design, execute, and document systems/service tests.
Conducts gap analyses and contributes to change strategies and implementation planning.
Understands business context and documents current and future states of technical and process architectures.
Analyzes trends and compiles data to support decision-making.
DESIRED
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments.
Professional certifications related to IBM i, cloud platforms, systems administration, cybersecurity, or infrastructure technologies.
Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership.
