Job description

Opportunity PeopleTec is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL location. We're seeking an exceptionally motivated, self-starting Systems Engineer with a strong background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to help lead the systems engineering vision, architecture strategy, and integration efforts supporting Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) - enabled Digital Backbone modernization initiatives . This role requires a true systems engineering mindset with the ability to think strategically across requirements, architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, validation, and long-term scalability of lab capabilities.

The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership for MBSE activities while helping shape the overall systems engineering approach for the Innovation and Integration (I&I) L ab. This individual will support development of system architectures, requirements traceability, integration strategies, verification methodologies, and digital engineering processes while mentoring junior engineers and peer reviewing MBSE work products. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional software, hardware, networking, cybersecurity, and integration teams supporting Army Aviation and other modernization efforts within a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) environment.

Key Responsibilities: * Lead systems engineering activities supporting TSN-enabled Digital Backbone integration, modernization, and evaluation efforts. * Help define and mature the long-term systems engineering vision, MBSE strategy, and architecture roadmap for l ab efforts . * Collaborate with SMEs and government stakeholders to ensure TSN SIL test strategies align with Army digital backbone objectives .

* Support definition and implementation of scalable digital engineering and MBSE best practices within the lab environment. * Collaborate with software, hardware, networking, and cybersecurity SMEs to support system integration and evaluation activities. * Perform peer reviews and provide mentorship for junior MBSE and systems engineering personnel.

* Support technical planning, risk identification, architecture trade studies, and integration analysis activities. * Participate in customer engagements, technical demonstrations, and stakeholder discussions supporting Army Aviation modernization efforts. * Support development of technical documentation, whitepapers, proposals, and strategic growth initiatives as needed.

* Apply MBSE methodologies using SysML tools such as Cameo/ MagicDraw to : * Develop and analyze Component Design Models (CDMs) , Component Specification Models (CSMs), and Domain Specific Data Models ( DSDM s) with system specifications. * Develop and maintain system architectures, interface definitions, operational concepts, use cases, and requirements traceability models. * Build and implement system/subsystem digital twins for integration and evaluation of TSN toolchains, avionics, and mission-critical LRUs.

* P erform requirements definition , requirements analysis , and requirements management. * S upport architecture development, integration planning, verification, and validation activities. Qualifications Required Skills/Experience : * 5+ years of e xperience developing and maintaining MBSE architecture and SysML models using tools such as Cameo/ MagicDraw .

* 5+ years of applying systems engineering principles including requirements management, architecture development, system integration, verification, validation, and lifecycle traceability in MBSE environment . * Strong systems engineering background with demonstrated experience supporting aviation or mission-critical systems. * Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience briefing technical concepts to leadership and stakeholders.

* Familiarity and experience with the FVL Architecture Framework (FAF) , Enterprise Architecture Framework (EAF) , Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE), Integrated Modular Avionics (DO-297, ARINC 653/661). * Ability to lead technical discussions and provide systems engineering direction across cross-functional teams. * Experience defining high-level system architectures and translating stakeholder needs into technical solutions.

* Experience performing peer reviews and mentoring junior engineers. * Must be a U.S. Citizen * An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work.

Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire (or the ability to obtain), and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment. Education Requirements : * Bachelor's Degree in Engineering . * Systems Engineering degree preferred.

* Industry certifications related to SysML or MBSE (e.g., OCSMP or equivalent) are preferred. Desired Skills : * Experience supporting integration and test activities within HWIL/SIL environments. * Knowledge of safety standards (DO-178B/C, DO-254).

* Familiarity with TSN, Digital Backbone architecture, avionics integration, or mission systems modernization is highly desired. * Experience supporting Army Aviation or other DoD modernization programs. Knowledge of digital engineering frameworks, architecture frameworks, and model governance approaches.

* Experience with requirements management and traceability tools such as DOORS. * Exposure to software integration, cybersecurity, or network architecture efforts. * Programming or scripting experience (Python, MATLAB, etc.) is a plus.

* Experience supporting technical proposals, whitepapers, or strategic growth initiatives. * Experience with data analysis, statistics, and digital test/reporting methods. Overview People First.
