Position Overview:
The Junior Buyer ensures the services and supply of materials for assigned projects and executes all sourcing and procurement activities. The Junior Buyer ensures a high level of services is delivered to internal clients, mitigates operating risk while achieving optimum value while following EnergyLink purchasing policies and procedures. Previous experience within a procurement environment focused on Construction, pre-fab steel construction would be a definite asset. Candidate must have at least 2-4 years of relevant procurement experience.
Reporting Structure:
This position will report to the Senior Buyer based in Calgary
Key Responsibilities:
Gathers short and long-term demand information for goods and services and works collaboratively with Project Managers to understand needs and develop solutions;
Reviews and analyzes requests for goods and services including detailed specifications and confers with the originator to eliminate ambiguities and to gain maximum procurement efficiency in terms of price, delivery and suitability of materials, services and equipment;
Proactively generates cost savings through supplier negotiation of existing contracts and competitive bids;
Administers sourcing process including requirements and specification development, bid evaluation, vendor selection, negotiates contracts and purchase orders;
Maintains vendor relationships, monitors vendor performance, and collects vendor performance metrics. Measures supplier performance against key performance indicators and identifies opportunities for improvement;

Ensures all procurement activities follow EnergyLink procurement policies, procedures and the laws of competitive bidding; strictly follows EnergyLink Code of Ethics and engages others to follow;
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of business methods, markets and purchasing policies/procedures;
Knowledge of project buying and scheduling;
Previous direct purchasing experience is considered an asset;
Demonstrated experience in negotiating prices and terms;
Strong communication, interpersonal skills and relationship building skills;
Proven ability to work with different automation programs;
Use of ProCore an asset;
Proficient use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), along with Sharepoint;
Experience in construction sector a definite asset.
Education and Experience:
Note: A combination of education and experience will be considered.
General Business Diploma;
Certificate, Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree in fields of supply chain, engineering or manufacturing;
Certified Professional Purchaser (CPP) designation would be considered an asset.
