Job description

Job Title: Assistant Junior Tennis Professional/Red Ball Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Racquet Sports
Position Type: Part-time/evenings and weekends

Position Overview:
We are seeking an energetic and motivated Assistant Junior Tennis Professional to join our coaching team. This role is primarily focused on supporting our junior development programs, ranging from "10 and Under" tennis to competitive high school clinics. You will act as a club ambassador, fostering a fun, inclusive, and high-energy environment for young athletes to develop their skills and passion for the game.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Instruction & Coaching: Assist in leading junior clinics, summer camps, and group lessons. Provide technical instruction on strokes, footwork, and strategy for various skill levels.
  • Program Support: Help design and set up engaging drills, games, and on-court activities. Assist with match play supervision and junior tournaments.
  • Operations & Maintenance: Ensure tennis courts are ready for play, manage equipment (balls, hoppers, cones), and assist in the pro shop or with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Member Engagement: Foster positive relationships with junior players and their parents, providing progress updates and promoting upcoming club events.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Tennis Background: Strong competitive playing experience (collegiate or high-level high school) and a deep understanding of tennis rules and fundamentals.
  • Coaching Experience: Prior experience coaching youth or working as a camp counselor is preferred.
  • Certifications: Professional certification from the USPTA or PTR is a plus, or a willingness to obtain certification. Current First Aid/CPR certification is highly recommended.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, high energy, and the ability to motivate and mentor young athletes.
