The City of Vacaville invites applications for the position of Senior Building Inspector. We currently have one vacancy within our Community and Economic Development Department. This recruitment process will create an eligibility list for this position which can be used to fill other vacancies (within this classification) that may develop in the next twelve (12) month period.
Salary and Benefits Information
$100,929 - $122,680 annually

A 2% COLA is scheduled for 11/1/2026Working for the City of Vacaville comes with an excellent benefits package including:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Education: Completion of related college coursework is highly desirable.
Experience: Six years of building inspection experience with a public agency inspecting all trades. Of the six years of experience, three years of experience inspecting commercial and mixed-use development at the journey level is required.
One year of experience working in a supervisory or lead capacity is required.
Experience in any of the major trade fields or in performing various trade work is highly desirable.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE Possession of a Residential Combination Inspector Certification and Commercial Building Inspector Certificate, or equivalent, as determined by the Chief Building Official, issued by the International Code Council (ICC) or other recognized agency, is required.
Possession of additional certifications issued by the International Code Council (ICC) are highly desirable.
Possession of a valid Class C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
