Job description

Geode Capital Management is seeking a full‑time Senior Data Engineer to join our Data team. The Senior Data Engineer will report to the Director of Data Engineering and will design and build scalable data solutions, working closely with operations teams, data analysts, and business stakeholders. The role will be based in our Boston office and requires in‑office attendance on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with optional remote work on Monday and Friday. The Senior Data Engineer will help build a modern, cloud‑native data and analytics platform centered around AWS, Snowflake, DBT, Snaplogic, and Python.

Responsibilities
  • Build a best‑in‑class data platform to ingest, process, and store enterprise data for business teams.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of software and data solutions.
  • Continuously enhance data pipelines through automation and expanding unit testing coverage to optimize time‑to‑market and quality.
  • Collaborate with the development team to build innovative, event‑driven, cloud‑native solutions using the specified technologies.
  • Work with product owners, data product leads, Scrum Masters, and other development teams to build effective data ingestion and integration pipelines.
  • Mentor new or junior team members and participate in code reviews.
  • Iteratively deliver high‑quality products to support investment business, operations, analytics, and client reporting.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 10+ years of data and software engineering experience, including technical leadership.
  • Strong Python programming skills focused on data engineering and pipeline development.
  • Expertise in ELT development using DBT, Snowflake, Snaplogic, or similar tools.
  • Strong skills in data modeling, building operational data stores and data warehouses.
  • Excellent SQL skills, including developing SQL stored procedures and functions.
  • Hands‑on experience designing, building, and maintaining AWS native applications.
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as Airflow or Control‑M.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment (Kanban and SCRUM) is a plus.
  • Experience building reports, dashboards, and visualizations with Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience in the asset‑management industry is a plus.
