Position Summary

The Azure Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and optimization of Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and related Microsoft technologies. This role ensures the reliability, availability, performance, and security of cloud-based systems while supporting business initiatives and cloud transformation efforts. The Azure Systems Administrator works closely with networking, security, application, and support teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Azure Administration & Operations

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Azure environments, including virtual machines, virtual networks, storage accounts, and cloud services.
  • Monitor Azure infrastructure performance, availability, and health.
  • Provision, configure, and manage Azure resources according to business and security requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of Azure resources.
  • Manage Azure subscriptions, resource groups, and governance policies.

Identity & Access Management

  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) environments.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, role assignments, and conditional access policies.
  • Implement and maintain multi-factor authentication (MFA) and Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions.
  • Support identity governance and privileged access management initiatives.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement Azure security best practices and Zero Trust principles.
  • Maintain Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, DLP/Purview, and security monitoring tools.
  • Respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities within the Azure environment.
  • Assist with compliance initiatives, audits, and remediation efforts.
  • Develop and maintain security policies and standards for cloud infrastructure.

Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Manage hybrid cloud environments integrating Azure with on-premises infrastructure.
  • Support Windows Server environments and Active Directory integration.
  • Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Configure and manage Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, and other resiliency services.
  • Support Microsoft 365 services and integrations as needed.

Collaboration & Support

  • Provide Tier III technical support for Azure-related issues.
  • Collaborate with network, security, and application teams on cloud projects.
  • Participate in planning, implementation, and migration initiatives.
  • Mentor junior IT staff and share cloud best practices.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

  • 7+ years of enterprise cloud engineering experience
  • Handson experience with Azure & Meraki networking, hybrid connectivity (VPN/ExpressRoute), and Microsoft 365 E5 security tools
  • Strong understanding of modern network security concepts, especially Zero Trust
  • Experience supporting distributed or fieldbased environments is a plus
  • A practical, collaborative mindset with a desire to continuously improve systems and processes
  • VMare/Hyper-V experience a plus

COMPENSATION DETAILS:

Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000
