Overview

L&W Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a Plaintiff's Attorney to represent individuals affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases. The position is with a nationally resourced plaintiff-side practice that emphasizes thorough case development, coordinated work with medical and investigative experts, and trial readiness. This role is suited to an attorney who can manage a substantial caseload, advocate compassionately for clients, and collaborate with colleagues and experts to achieve favorable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of asbestos/mesothelioma and related plaintiff personal injury matters from intake through resolution, including factual and legal investigation, discovery, motion practice, negotiation, and trial preparation.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, settlement documents, and other court filings with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Take and defend depositions; prepare lay and expert witnesses; coordinate with retained experts and consultants.
  • Handle hearings, case management conferences, mediations, and trials as required; advocate effectively in court.
  • Communicate regularly and compassionately with clients, families, medical providers, co‑counsel, and other stakeholders; maintain organized case files and calendaring.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on case strategy and firm objectives; participate in mentoring and professional development where appropriate.

Required qualifications

  • Active license to practice law in Missouri.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of litigation experience; direct mesothelioma/asbestos litigation experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated litigation skills, including drafting, discovery, deposition practice, and courtroom experience.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and professional client-management abilities.

Preferred qualifications

  • Substantial trial experience or significant courtroom exposure in plaintiff-side matters.
  • Experience coordinating with medical and industry experts and managing complex medical and exposure evidence.
  • Experience in plaintiff-side personal injury practice areas such as medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, or construction defect litigation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to client advocacy and to mentoring or developing junior attorneys.
