Title:
Junior Systems Engineer (MBSE)
Job Summary
KBR is seeking an MBSE Systems Engineer to support a Department of War program utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies and digital engineering practices.
This position contributes to the development, maintenance, and analysis of system architecture models across the systems engineering lifecycle, supporting activities from requirements development through design, verification, and validation. Working within a collaborative engineering environment, the engineer will partner with senior systems engineers and technical stakeholders to develop model-based solutions that improve system understanding, traceability, and decision-making. The role supports architecture development, requirements engineering, and technical documentation while leveraging industry-standard MBSE tools and defense architecture frameworks. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to mission-critical defense programs while expanding expertise in SysML modeling, digital engineering, and systems integration.
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and update system architecture models using SysML/UML within Cameo Systems Modeler and related modeling environments.
  • Support requirements engineering activities including requirements capture, decomposition, allocation, validation, and end-to-end traceability throughout the systems lifecycle.
  • Develop and refine functional, logical, and physical architecture models to support system analysis, design, and integration activities.
  • Generate model views, diagrams, reports, and technical artifacts that support engineering reviews, design decisions, and program deliverables.
  • Support model configuration management activities and maintain architecture repositories using TeamWork Cloud and established program governance processes.
  • Assist with system verification and validation activities by ensuring traceability between requirements, architecture products, and test artifacts.
  • Support alignment of system models, engineering products, and documentation with applicable Department of War architecture frameworks and program processes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop technical documentation, design descriptions, status reports, and briefing materials.
  • Contribute to digital engineering initiatives and process improvements supporting model-based development and systems lifecycle execution.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of mission and business requirements.

Basic Qualifications
  • Active Secret security clearance or eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • 1-5 years of experience supporting Model-Based Systems Engineering and systems lifecycle activities.
  • Experience developing or maintaining SysML and UML models using Cameo Systems Modeler, Cameo Enterprise Architecture, MagicDraw, or comparable modeling tools.
  • Experience producing technical documentation including specifications, architecture descriptions, design documentation, or engineering reports.
  • Experience supporting requirements development, requirements traceability, system architecture development, verification, or validation activities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Department of War programs, acquisition programs, or defense system development efforts.
  • Experience applying DoDAF or other architecture framework methodologies.
  • Experience using TeamWork Cloud for collaborative model management and configuration control.
  • Experience with PLM tools, Azure DevOps, Jira, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exposure to Digital Engineering strategies, model-based analysis, and systems integration activities.
  • Coursework, training, or certification related to MBSE, SysML, or systems architecture development.

Note: This position is contingent upon contract funding and formal program award. Employment offers extended under this requisition are conditional and subject to confirmation of award.
