Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned federal government contractor, is seeking a Senior Web Applications Developer to support mission-critical initiatives at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), Washington, DC. In this role, you will lead the modernization, enhancement, and maintenance of secure web applications that support data-driven decision-making and operational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in React.js, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, and RESTful API integration, along with the ability to refactor legacy systems, improve application scalability and performance, and collaborate with stakeholders in Agile development environments.

This position includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus!

Responsibilities
  • Modernize and maintain web apps for scalability and performance
  • Write modular code in React.js, Node.js, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Refactor legacy code to reduce debt and improve readability
  • Build dashboards, workflows, and visualizations for data-driven apps
  • Optimize SQL queries and ensure database performance and security
  • Define and deliver scalable solutions with stakeholders
  • Work in Agile (Scrum, XP, Kanban) environments
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers
  • Provide actionable reports and analytics for informed decisions
  • Maintain, modernize, and refactor web applications for improved scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Qualifications
  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent years of relevant experience)
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience
  • Active Security+ CE certificate or ability to obtain Security+ CE certification within 90 days of hire
  • Proficiency in React.js, Node.js, JavaScript/HTML/CSS, and SQL
  • Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems
  • Ability to analyze, refactor, and improve legacy applications
  • Familiarity with Linux (RHEL) administration and update management
  • Experience working in Agile environments, including Scrum or XP methodologies

NOTE: U.S. Citizenship required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00 / Yr. - USD $170,000 / Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
