Sherpa 6 is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lead Test Automation Engineer to join our team.? We build mission critical systems for the Department of Defense (DoD) and other commercial customers. We're looking for an experienced Test Automation Engineer that can scale our current test operation to meet the demand of our customers and new work. This person should have great attention to detail and have the desire to lead a team of software development engineers in test in implementing and deploying test frameworks for multiple software products and tech stacks in the cloud. Our projects primarily include work involving frontend Web interfaces, Android applications and Windows applications. Sherpa 6 is constantly growing its software team, and we need a motivated individual who is excited to shape our test automation team and frameworks. We work on a lot of innovative software projects, so they would work to build prototypes and lead the team to solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of complex testing software systems, ensuring scalability and performance, while contributing to the code base
  • Lead the development of test automation infrastructure on our most important projects
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation?
  • Work closely with teams of software developers and other engineers to ensure proper test coverage and automation
  • Mentor junior and mid-level test automation engineers to enhance their skillsets and grow a team
  • Oversee and support the running of regression tests and provide analysis to support releasing software
  • Support the integration of our testing frameworks into our GitLab CI/CD pipeline for a more hands-off approach
  • Ensures that the test team follows best practices and procedures per the software development process that they will be supporting

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance (Interim ok)
  • 10+ years of QA/Test Automation Engineering experience
  • Proficiency in Java development experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience with ticketing software (Jira)
  • Experience leading teams of engineers within the Agile framework
  • Strong language/communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns and architectural principles
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and technologies
  • Experience writing/running automated test scripts
  • Experience managing teams of engineers
