Job description

About 3DE by Junior Achievement

3DE by Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming high school education. 3DE was designed with and is implemented in partnership with school districts to make high school more relevant, experiential, and connected to the real world through project-based learning, case methodology, and competency development. Our goal is to prepare students for the demands of tomorrow's economy, providing them with the opportunity for a choice-filled life.

Position Summary

The Director, Data Insights & Optimization serves as a strategic partner to 3DE National by transforming data into meaningful insights that drive informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and stronger organizational performance. This role analyzes state-reported, district-provided, and internally collected data to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and develop actionable insights and resources that support national planning, implementation, and strategic decision-making.

Working closely with cross-functional 3DE National partners, the Director helps ensure data is accurate, accessible, and meaningful while strengthening how leaders interpret and use information. The role supports greater consistency and effectiveness in how data is collected, reported, and applied by identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes, analytical resources, and organizational data practices.

Success in this role requires strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and the ability to communicate complex information in a clear, practical way. By combining analytical expertise with a deep understanding of the 3DE instructional model and its enabling structures, the Director helps improve the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of network data; increase utilization of reporting resources and data literacy tools; provide leaders with greater visibility into key performance indicators and strategic priorities; and translate findings into actionable recommendations that inform implementation quality, operational effectiveness, and student outcomes..

This position is largely remote but requires the selected candidate to reside in a community where 3DE currently operates. Candidates must live within an existing 3DE market to support collaboration with local and national partners. For Atlanta-based candidates, this is a hybrid position, requiring one day a week in person at the 3DE office.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Decision Support

  • Analyze state-reported, district-provided, and internally collected 3DE data to identify school-, district-, and national-level trends, performance patterns, and opportunities for improvement
  • Translate complex data into meaningful insights, actionable recommendations, reports, and resources that support planning, implementation, and decision-making across 3DE National
  • Develop briefing materials, presentations, and guidance that help organizational leaders interpret 3DE outcomes, operational metrics, state accountability data, and other key performance indicators
  • Research and prepare analytical profiles of prospective schools to inform national planning and expansion decisions
  • Develop and support trainings, guidance, and learning resources that build 3DE National staff confidence in interpreting and using data effectively

Data Quality & Operational Support

  • Partner with the 3DE National Data Team to support the timely collection, validation, and processing of school and district data
  • Monitor data submission timelines and coordinate follow-up activities to improve the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of network data
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of cleaned and aggregated datasets prior to inclusion in the organization's Data Library, investigating discrepancies and supporting data integrity
  • Prepare recurring status reports and performance summaries that provide leadership with visibility into data collection progress, key milestones, performance indicators, and emerging priorities

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with 3DE National leaders and cross-functional teams to understand evolving data needs and develop practical resources that improve data accessibility, interpretation, and utilization
  • Build collaborative relationships across teams to ensure data products and reporting tools effectively support organizational priorities
  • Identify and advance opportunities to strengthen reporting processes, improve data resources and tools, increase effective use of information, and enhance how insights are translated into decisions and actions across 3DE National
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and utilization of reporting resources, analytical tools, and data practices, using stakeholder feedback and usage patterns to recommend improvements that strengthen organizational decision-making

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data storytelling, educational research, business intelligence, or a related analytical field
  • Experience working with Kโ€“12 education data, state accountability systems, or district performance reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex datasets, identify meaningful trends, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences
  • Experience developing reports, presentations, and data resources that support organizational planning and decision-making
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and accessible manner
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and experience working with large datasets

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the 3DE instructional model and its enabling structures strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting data quality assurance, validation, or data governance processes
  • Experience designing or facilitating trainings that build data literacy and support effective data use
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or other mission-driven organization

Compensation
