Job Description
Introduction:
The Music Development Program (MDP) is a Sunday program held on campus at The Tianjin Juilliard School. The mission of Tianjin Juilliard's MDP is to equip young musicians ages 5-18 with a solid foundation and a comprehensive understanding of music. The MDP includes two mandatory components: a Youth Chorus and Music Literacy course. Additionally, students may opt to take Instrumental Instructions on a variety of western classical instruments.
Description:
The Tianjin Juilliard School is seeking instrumental instructors for various western classical music instruments, including piano, strings, winds, and brass. The MDP Instrumental Instructor is a part-time position that teach applied lessons on Sundays in Tianjin.
Responsibilities include:
  • Teach one-to-one instrumental lessons, and develop a short- and long-term individualized education plan for each student
  • Prepare students for performances and auditions, as needed
  • Actively recruit students for the MDP program
  • Participate in MDP departmental meetings and training sessions, as required

Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in music performance and/or music pedagogy
  • Experience teaching younger age groups
  • Openness to multi-cultural approaches to music education is essential
  • Experience teaching or studying in an American or European music school is preferred
  • Fluency in Mandarin (required) and English (preferred)
  • Weekend availability essential; teaching on other days possible
  • This position requires eligibility for part-time work in China
