Job description

Gryphon Stringed Instruments is looking for full and/or part-time retail sales people.

We need people who are familiar with both acoustic and electric guitars, plus the amplifiers and accessories commonly used by guitar players.  Applicants should play both acoustic and electric guitar well enough to play them for customers wishing to hear comparisons.

Gryphon also sells mandolins, ukuleles, and banjos, so applicants must be willing to learn about those instruments if they do not already play them.  We have lots of books to loan on those topics, plus loaner instruments for you if needed.

Familiarity with Shopify would be helpful but previous experience with it is not a requirement.

2022 is Gryphon's 53rd year in business in Palo Alto. Along with sales it offers a full repair shop for virtually all fretted stringed instruments.  Gryphon is more than a retail store, it's the center of a wide-ranging musical community and we are known for both expertise and straight talk about what works and what doesn't depending on customers' needs and playing styles.

The gryphonstrings.com website is used by musicians worldwide as a source of information about their instruments. The website prompts a steady stream of email inquiries so applicants should be comfortable communicating by email as well as by phone

Gryphon's Store is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Hours of work may differ from the Store Hours.

Please email your resume to: finance@gryphonstrings.com. No phone calls please.
