What is a JRE?

JRE stands for Java Runtime Environment. It is a software package that provides the libraries, Java Virtual Machine (JVM), and other components needed to run applications written in the Java programming language. While the JRE allows you to execute Java applications, it does not contain the tools for developing Java programs, such as the Java compiler. Developers and end-users install the JRE on their computers to ensure they can run Java applications smoothly. The JRE is available for multiple platforms, including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
