Job description

We are currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our HVAC Control team in Alpharetta, GA.

As an early career Software Engineer at LG Electronics proprietary controls components and systems integration solutions, this role will support the application and development of new and existing applications, software, devices, HMIs in the Controls R&D team to meet market demands regionally and nationally throughout the North American market. 

This includes development and testing, reviewing market trends and learning LG's proprietary controls to help position LG Electronics for continued success.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly contribute to the development, testing and maintenance of applications using modern web technologies
  • Setup the controls test infrastructure for escalated issues and help determine root cause by working with US and HQ teams
  • Work on all facets of control development from requirements gathering, coding, testing through post release/enhancement and maintenance of the application
  • Collaborate with members of R&D, HQ and US teams on NPI projects and other tasks as assigned
  • Breakdown complex VoC into functional technical requirements and author scope, SRS and other development workflows
  • Work on version control of SW releases and maintain properly documented release notes and other technical content
  • Actively monitor evolving landscape of the controls/technologies in the market and positively contribute for LG to stay ahead of the market trends

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 1+ yr. experience in software development using open web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Internship or co-op experience in electronics/controller integration is required
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail for debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Possess a can-do attitude and bring positivity to the workplace
  • Comfortable working in a multi-cultural/ workplace often requiring interpretation of language from HQ teams
  • Be able to value differences and express clearly to achieve common goals
  • Continuous learning mindset
  • Eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship
  • Occasional domestic/international travel is required.

 

Desired Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience working with BMS protocols such as BACnet, LON, Modbus etc
  • Integrating Home Automation System kit such as Apple Home Kit, Google Home etc is
  • Experience in API integration is valuable
  • Understanding of Cloud development and protocols such as MQTT, LoRaWAN
  • Experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems programming
  • Experience with VRF or Ductless mini-split HVAC systems
  • Understanding electrical wiring to set up test environment of product and PCBA level
