PATH is seeking passionate candidates to join our SHS Team as an After School Program Tutor for our PATH Family Commons office in Long Beach, California.

ABOUT PATH
Since its foundation in 1984, PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.

ABOUT OUR SUPPORTIVE HOUSING SERVICES
Our Supportive Housing Services (SHS) programs provide Intensive Case Management Services (ICMS) in a Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) setting to individuals who have experienced homelessness and have a history of chronic health, mental health, and/or co-occurring conditions. Services are centralized and provided to clients living on-site to ensure ease of access to the resources necessary for long-term housing stabilization, improving their quality of life and community integration.

ABOUT THE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM TUTOR
As part of the SHS Team, the After School Program Tutor will work in PATH's elementary after school program in collaboration with the on-site ICMS team to provide individualized student support to address identified barriers, as well as provide homework assistance, and after school and summer programs to elementary school students living at PATH's operated sites. Position Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate activities with a group of up to twenty students.
  • Assist students with homework, academic enrichment, recreation, and various arts-based programming.
  • Supervise all participants to ensure a safe learning environment and organized program.
  • Supervise playground activities without engaging in the play.
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
  • Assist with the planning of on-site and off-site events.
  • Supervise a monthly field trip on weekend.
  • Prepare educational/enrichment lesson plans according to established deadlines.
  • Develop and implement small group enrichment activities, sports clubs or STEM projects.
  • Adhere to workplace safety guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • One (1) year of professional experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
