Pay: $75,000.00 - $112,000.00 per year

Location: This role is based in Anchorage, Alaska. On-site is preferred, but we may consider a hybrid arrangement for the right candidate. The position includes a mix of office, field, and occasional statewide project-related travel.

Note: Qualified candidates must have experience estimating vertical commercial construction projects, strong plan-reading ability, takeoff software experience, and a background in commercial construction or carpentry.

Job Description

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, scopes, and project requirements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for multiple trades using takeoff software such as E-Takeoff, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar tools.
  • Assist with conceptual estimates based on early design documents and preliminary project information.
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing and help build strong subcontractor interest in upcoming projects.
  • Review subcontractor proposals for completeness, scope alignment, and specification compliance.
  • Prepare bid packages, scope sheets, estimate summaries, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with pre-bid schedules, project timelines, and estimating strategy.
  • Participate in bid reviews and collaborate with the estimating and preconstruction team.
  • Support value engineering efforts and identify practical cost-saving opportunities.
  • Work with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to clarify project details and requirements.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records, subcontractor pricing, historical cost data, and project handoff information.
  • Support project teams during preconstruction and early project phases by validating quantities, costs, and scope.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience estimating vertical commercial construction projects.
  • 5+ years of vertical commercial carpentry or related commercial construction experience.
  • Experience using takeoff software such as E-Takeoff, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Experience with 3D/modeling or construction design and editing software.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and follow-through.
  • Alaska commercial construction experience is preferred.
  • Foreman, project engineer, or field leadership experience is preferred.
  • ASPE AEP or CPE certification is preferred.
