Joyous Care Services is seeking dedicated and energetic individuals to join our team as Overnight Awake or Asleep Direct Support Professional (Youth Behavioral Support Specialists). This crucial role involves providing care and support to youth with high behavioral needs, including intellectual, developmental, and mental health challenges, during the overnight shift. Key Responsibilities:

• Program Support: Carry out the required support duties as outlined by the youth care plans, including but not limited to behavioral support, meal preparation, and smooth transition to school on weekday mornings.
• Behavioral Support: Implement and follow the client’s behavior and care plans during overnight hours, focusing on therapeutic interventions and managing challenging behaviors. Address physical aggression (such as hitting, kicking, or throwing objects) and verbal aggression (including shouting, threats, or abusive language). Be prepared to handle instances of elopement attempts and manage the high energy and activity levels typical of this population.
• Activity Supervision: Remain vigilant and attentive throughout the shift to ensure safety and well-being. Address high-intensity situations or sudden changes in behavior as they arise.
• Household Management: Perform various cleaning tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment. Address and manage any damage or disruption caused by behavioral outbursts.
• Meal Preparation: Prepare youth meals as outlined by the program meal plan and schedule.
• Documentation: Complete and maintain thorough documentation as required by the client’s program and state licensing regulations. Accurately document all incidents, behavioral issues, and interventions.
• Crisis Management: Employ de-escalation techniques and therapeutic strategies to manage and diffuse aggressive or unsafe behavior. Prevent and address difficult situations, including behavioral escalations, effectively.
• Staying Awake: Remain awake and alert throughout the entire overnight shift to ensure continuous supervision and support for the youth.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience: Associate degree or a minimum of four years of direct care experience working with adolescents or adults with disabilities, mental health needs, and high behavioral needs, including experience managing aggressive and challenging behaviors.
• Age Requirement: Must be 21 years or older.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to document information clearly and accurately; proficient typing skills. Ability to handle stressful and potentially unsafe situations calmly and effectively.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to engage in high levels of physical activity, including biking, running, and hiking for extended periods; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be physically capable of managing and responding to aggressive behavior if necessary.
• Driving: Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
• Attitude: Maintain a positive, uplifting attitude to contribute to the mission of Joyous Care Services.
• Preferred Experience: Prior experience working with youth exhibiting high behavioral needs is highly desirable.

Schedule and Compensation:

• Shift: Overnight shifts with a rotation of 7 days on (Wednesday through Tuesday) and 7 days off.
• Base Pay: Start $21 per hour.
