Position Summary:
Repair, install, adjust or maintain industrial production machinery and equipment. Install, dismantle or move machinery and heavy equipment according to plans. Perform routine maintenance such as inspecting drives, motors or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventative maintenance actions.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or testing devices.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze test results, machine error messages or information from operator to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs or straightedges.
  • Study blueprints or manufacturers' manuals to determine correct installation or operation of machinery.
  • Safely operate an overhead crane.
  • Plan and layout repair work using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals or schematic diagrams.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical and pneumatics systems
  • Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, or assemble new equipment.
  • Clean, lubricate, shafts, bearings, gears, and adjust parts, equipment or machinery.
  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
  • Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
  • Record repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery or equipment.
  • Preventative maintenance skills, examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Journeyman certificate or 8 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Perform a practical test of rigging a machine safely.
  • Pass a high-low driver test.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Must be well organized with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to work any shift as assigned and overtime as required.
  • Physically capable and available to work overtime including holidays, weekends and evenings.
