Job description

We are hiring a full-time Business Office Manager to join our dynamic care team at Parsons Hill Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Worcester!

Parsons Hill is a 162-bed skilled nursing facility. This is a salaried role 8a-4p with weekly pay. Up to $33 an hour. Must have experience working in skilled nursing.

As the Business Office Manager, you oversee the day-to-day accounting function of the facility in accordance with current applicable accounting and cost reimbursement principles relating to the long-term care operations, and as may be directed by the Administrator or Accountant. 

Education & Experience:

  • Must possess an associates degree in Accounting and/or an equivalent of two (2) years of training and experience in health care accounting, billing & collections.

  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting practice.

  • Experience in health care accounting required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Bill and collect all patient accounts.

  • Balancing and updating the monthly closing.

  • Communicate all potential Patient AR Account issues with the Administrator.

  • Discuss billing situations with residents and/or responsible parties.

  • Stay current with intermediary procedural changes.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records and reports, including all accounts, journals, deposits, ledgers, etc.

  • Maintain accurate census data.

  • Secure all cash and valuables on hand, per policy.

  • Oversees and supervises accounts receivable assistant.

  • Maintains Resident Trust, or where applicable, delegates the responsibility.

Specific Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.

  • Must be able to type 45 words per minute and use a 10-key calculator.

  • Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing sound accounting techniques.

  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents, staff, based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.

  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing accounting practices.
