What is a journal copy editor?

Journal copy editors are professionals who review and edit academic or scholarly articles before publication in journals. Their primary responsibilities include checking for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors, ensuring consistency in style and formatting, and verifying that references and citations follow journal guidelines. They also work closely with authors and journal editors to help clarify language and improve the overall readability and quality of manuscripts. Ultimately, journal copy editors help ensure that published articles meet high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
