Job description

Join a team that is leading enterprise-level operations supporting customers utilizing cloud infrastructure and services. AWS Joint Operations is looking for a high judgement, experienced expert to lead operational planning and implementation efforts in support of a national security organization. The Joint Operations Lead will leverage expertise across multiple disciplines gained from supporting national security organizations at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels to engage with customer executives and operations teams.

This position will also integrate AWS plans and in-flight efforts across multiple teams (e.g., sales, operations, and security) to deliver innovative solutions that enhance the customer experience by resolving customer pain points and streamlining operations.
AWS is delivering essential cloud infrastructure and services to customers supporting national security missions globally. Joint Operations is transforming how cloud solution providers partner with customers that must provide enterprise-level capabilities. Our team must look over the horizon to identify long-term customer needs and work with AWS teams to build plans to deliver capabilities and solutions to meet those needs

We establish and maintain close working relationships with our customers' enterprise operations teams to ensure cloud infrastructure and services are always available.
An ideal expert has a wide array of skills that can be combined and applied to solve complex problems in innovative and scrappy ways. Experience in IT program management, enterprise architecture, and portfolio management, and IT operations are key components for this position. You will join a high performance, close knit team that has a reputation for tackling and solving complex problems by delivering transformational solutions.
This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph

The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.
Key job responsibilities
- Establish close and enduring working relationships with enterprise operations customers, serving as the operations liaison that customers engage with when issues occur and standard practices cannot solve the problem
- Joint Operations Leads work to: (1) gain/maintain enterprise-level perspective of customer planning; (2) provide operations perspective during solution delivery planning; (3) work with AWS services and infrastructure teams to close gaps and prevent trending issues from reaching critical states
- Build strategic plans by collecting, analyzing, and identifying customer's major milestones. Work backwards from those milestones to build AWS capability and solution roadmaps that internal teams will utilize to inform resource and delivery plans
- Leverage continuous improvement methods to create innovative solutions that deliver value to our customers (e.g., gap resolution or gained efficiencies)
- Translate the "voice of the customer" across all operational activities to support long-term customer needs and escalate pain points before they mature
