Fellow For Student Success And Experience

Ivy Tech Community College Madison seeks a qualified and mission-driven full-time hourly staff member to serve as the Fellow for Student Success and Experience for statewide Correctional Education.

This position will support student success outcomes across Ivy Tech's correctional education programs, with a focus on strengthening the student experience, improving persistence and completion, supporting transitions between facilities and programs, and helping build future postsecondary pathways for students served in Indiana Department of Correction facilities.

The Fellow will be based at the Ivy Tech Correctional Education Office in Plainfield, Indiana, and will work as part of the statewide Correctional Education team. This position will be embedded in the work of current programs while assisting with the planning, development, and implementation of future student success initiatives. This position is intended for an individual who brings strong student support skills, an understanding of barriers faced by justice-impacted learners, and a commitment to expanding educational opportunity.

The Fellow will collaborate with correctional education leadership, faculty, staff, campus partners, and external stakeholders to identify student needs, strengthen communication and support systems, and contribute to measurable student success outcomes. The position may support projects related to student orientation, academic progress, student transfer between facilities, career pathways, re-entry preparation, student voice, transition to Ivy Tech campuses, and future college-credit programming.

This role will help Ivy Tech think at a systems level about the student experience in correctional education. The Fellow will work across existing statewide functions, including assessment, special education and disability support, career and technical education, professional development, data, and regional facility support, to help identify gaps and recommend practical solutions.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support statewide student success initiatives within Ivy Tech Correctional Education.
  • Assist with tracking and improving student outcomes, including persistence, completion, transition, and progression into additional education or career pathways.
  • Work with correctional education staff to identify student barriers and recommend practical supports that improve the student experience.
  • Support existing high school equivalency, career and technical education, and college pathway programming across correctional facilities.
  • Assist with the design and development of future student success systems for expanded correctional education programs, including associate-level coursework.
  • Help strengthen the student experience for learners who transfer between facilities, complete programs, prepare for release, or seek to continue with Ivy Tech after incarceration.
  • Assist with coordination between Ivy Tech Correctional Education, facility-based education teams, HIRE, re-entry partners, and campus-based student support services.
  • Help gather student, faculty, and staff feedback to inform program improvement.
  • Support student-facing materials, orientations, communication tools, and transition resources.
  • Assist with projects related to career readiness, re-entry preparation, advising, student engagement, academic support, and future college-credit pathways.
  • Support planning for future associate-degree programs by helping identify what the student experience should look like before, during, and after enrollment.
  • Contribute to reports, presentations, meeting materials, and project updates related to correctional education student success.
  • Represent Ivy Tech professionally in meetings and partner conversations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Ivy Tech and Indiana Department of Correction policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of correctional education student success and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience supporting students, clients, participants, or community members in an education, workforce, re-entry, nonprofit, social service, correctional, or related setting.
  • Lived experience with the justice system, re-entry, or correctional education.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse populations, including justice-impacted students.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to meet facility access requirements established by the Indiana Department of Correction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous employment or volunteer experience with fair-chance hiring, re-entry programs, correctional education, workforce development, student success, or related initiatives.
  • Experience assisting with program development, student success initiatives, or data-informed improvement efforts.
  • Experience helping individuals navigate complex systems, including education, employment, re-entry, public benefits, or community-based services.
  • Recommendation letters that speak to the applicant's professionalism, reliability, student-centered approach, and commitment to justice-impacted learners.
