Job description

Basic Job Functions:

  • Provide Quality Assurance support to manufacturing departments by performing quality audits of standard work, work in process, finished products, incoming parts, etc. Collect and analyze data for trends, process capability and machine reliability. Work with manufacturing supervisors and engineers to implement corrective actions, employee training and scrap reduction.

Education/Experience:

  • 5 years' or more experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years' experience working with an ISO Quality System; including Internal Audits, use of SPC techniques, and JMP Data Analytics. 
  • Experience including ASQ Certification (CMI, CPT, CQA) desired.
  • 2-year Technical Degree.
  • 4-year B.S. degree highly desired.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Detail oriented.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Refer to "Operation/Production" competencies.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, including use of basic quality tools (Pareto analysis, SPC, gage R & R, etc.).
  • Experience with ISO 9001, including Internal Audit Procedures.
  • Experience using micrometers, gage blocks and microscopes.
  • Proven computer skills (Word and Excel required, Access a plus).
  • Proven communications skills.                                                                                                                                        

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Complete assignments and projects as directed, with minimal supervision.
  • Inspect incoming materials and outgoing product and provides feedback to Engineering and Manufacturing for corrective and/or preventive action. 
  • Maintain Quality Control Procedures and records per Company Policy and ISO Standards. 
  • Complete internal audits per a defined schedule including a specified format for documentation of findings. 
  • Train personnel on various quality programs.
  • Define and implement corrective/preventive actions and continuous improvement activities. 
  • Conduct effective communications levels and fosters team building. 
  • Interface with other departments and supplier representatives.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to the Plant Quality Engineer.

Travel:

  • 0-5% travel required.
  • If hired during plant start up, you will be expected to travel to other First Solar locations for training.

Estimated Salary Range:

  • $17.84 - $25.00, Hourly

US Physical Requirements:

  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs or steps on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.

  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) and a condition of employment and continued employment (may require little or no facial hair).
