Job description

Our JM Steel team in Huger, South Carolina is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor who will be directly responsible for assessing machine deficiencies related to long-term wear, mis-use and poor preventative maintenance. There will be a focus not only on repairs, but machine improvements and upgrades to take advantage of modern equipment improvements (machinery, scanners, interlocks, mechanical and electrical system upgrades necessary to respond to obsolete systems and/or improved safety initiatives).

This position will work directly with corporate staff, including electrical and mechanical systems teams, when it is necessary to connect them with a plant team member who can either address a problem directly or provide details about a plant concern to support issue resolution.

This individual will be the direct supervisor for all maintenance team members.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, Required or Equivalent Workplace Experience
  • Minimum 10 (Ten) Years Experience in a Manufacturing Environment, Improving Processes and KPIs
  • 3-5 (Three-to-Five) Years Supervisory Experience, Preferred
  • Steel Service Center Experience, Preferred
  • Industrial Electrical Maintenance Experience, A Plus


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Strategic mindset with sound technical skills, analytical ability, problem solving, strong operational focus, and creative thinking.
  • Software skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD.
  • High frequency tube welding and steel coil slitting is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Effective project management skills and interpersonal skills working with teams.
  • Desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others to ensure constructive and productive business relationships and cross functional collaboration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with teams.
  • Attention to detail and desire to work in a manufacturing environment with off-shift hours (evening and weekends) when equipment or operational needs require support.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manufacturing process design, analysis, and improvement.
  • Supervise maintenance department and drive preventative maintenance.
  • Work closely with technical teams, production supervisors, team leads, and production employees to perform problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Analyze capacity and resources to meet demand and define standards for labor utilization.
  • Data collection system/process design and implementation as required.
  • Ability to supervise others and provide mentoring to technicians and team.
  • Analyzes processes, maintenance work force utilization, and downtime data to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased uptime, equipment improvements, etc.
  • Coordinate project work to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
