Back of House Team Members are the heart of the JINYA Ramen Bar experience. You support the Kitchen Manager and play a critical role in delivering exceptional ramen and menu items with consistency, precision, and quality.
BOH Team Members ensure every guest receives the highest standard of food production while collaborating with front-of-house teams to create a seamless and memorable dining experience.
Primary Responsibilities
โข Proactively support the back of house team in tasks that helps efficiency including maintaining cleanliness, handling soup or line duties and dishwashing
โข Learn to prepare ramen, appetizers, and menu items according to recipes and Kitchen Manager instructions
โข Execute proper food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating standards
โข Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness procedures
โข Follow all JINYA health, safety, and operational policies
โข Operate kitchen equipment safely, including fryers, knives, and heavy cookware
โข Participate in JINYAโs cultural greetings including โIrasshaiโ and โArigatoโ
โข Arrive on time and report to your workstation prepared for service
โข Communicate clearly and professionally with BOH and FOH team members
โข Support front-of-house staff to ensure smooth guest service
โข Promote and execute JINYAโs core values of Teamwork, Hospitality, Authenticity, Creativity, and Integrity
โข Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned by management
Required Competencies
โข Some restaurant kitchen experience
โข Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques
โข Strong multitasking ability in a high-volume restaurant environment
โข Positive attitude and ability to perform under pressure
โข Ability to read and follow written instructions
โข Willingness to ask questions and follow direction
โข Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
โข Experience working in multicultural team environments
โข Flexible availability including weekends and holidays
โข Ability to stand for extended periods and maneuver safely in tight kitchen spaces
Required Education & Certifications
โข Ability to read, write, and speak English or Spanish
โข Must maintain all required local, state, and federal food handling certifications
Work Environment
This position operates in a fast-paced, professional restaurant kitchen. BOH team members move frequently between prep lines, cooking stations, and back-of-house areas while using fryers, heavy pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
Team members must communicate consistently with kitchen staff and management while maintaining awareness of safety conditions including spills, heat exposure, and equipment hazards.
