About the Job
Join the Alper JCC Miami team this summer as a Lifeguard and play a critical role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for our community. This is a seasonal summer position. We are seeking dedicated, vigilant, and safety-conscious individuals to monitor pool activities, enforce safety protocols, and respond swiftly in emergencies. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a team-oriented and engaging summer environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety of all pool guests by closely monitoring activities and enforcing pool rules.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, providing lifesaving assistance and first aid when needed.
  • Conduct routine safety checks of the pool and surrounding areas to identify and resolve potential hazards.
  • Assist in organizing and supporting water-based programs and summer camp activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing questions and concerns in a professional manner.
  • Work collaboratively with the aquatics team to maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Qualifications:
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
This role involves regular interaction with fellow lifeguards, facility staff, campers, and community members, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all pool visitors throughout the summer season.
Special Requirements & Physical Demands:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, carrying, and responding to emergency situations.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in a hot and humid environment for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to enforce rules with confidence and professionalism.

Lifeguards must be strong swimmers and prepared to enter the water as needed while maintaining alertness at all times. This role requires keen observation skills, including close, distance, and peripheral vision, to ensure safety at all times.
