Job Description
The Industrial Engineer Business Specialist III is responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a continuous improvement culture in site operations This individual will work closely with the Value Stream Leadership Teams and Engineering Team to identify and prioritize Industrial Engineering initiatives that are aligned with Site business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve continuous improvement processes, practices, and results.
  • Ensure projects accurately identify root cause and/or systemic issues and resolve issues using effective countermeasures.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure solutions are successfully implemented and are delivering intended results. Take appropriate countermeasures as needed if results are not as expected.
  • Identify and pursue synergy opportunities across projects, issues and areas.
  • Lead/facilitate projects as required.
  • Act as a Role Model Leader, with a positive mindset and a passion to achieve short- term and long-term goals.
  • Educate site employees on Industrial engineering theory and application through project work, individual mentoring, formal classroom training, and other methods as beneficial.
  • Partner with other Industrial Engineers internally and externally to share best practices.
  • Performs all job duties in a safe manner, consistent with the Code of Ethics and the 4-I Values, and follows all ISO standards, Company and site policies and guidelines, and regulatory or statutory requirements.
  • Design & develop manufacturing systems for new processes, or revisions to existing processes, working as a team with other Engineering disciplines. This includes cell layouts, ergonomic designs, labor utilization, line balancing, etc.
  • Establish operational methods and work standards utilizing knowledge of method analysis, time studies, work sampling and delay studies.
  • Develop & implement operator standard work while increasing productivity and reducing bottlenecks to meet production needs. Identify and create opportunities for flow in manufacturing.
  • Analyze existing operations and propose improvements. Study people, machine, & equipment capacity and determine & implement actions to improve productivity by optimizing the use of floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment. Perform complex capacity analyses in a mixed model environment.
  • Lead / Participate Kaizen events to establish optimal manufacturing processes, methods and procedures to assure quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise to manufacturing in problematic situations, striving for data driven process improvements, implementing corrective action and training as required.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and participate in selection of equipment for secondary operations, assembly, packing, and material handling operations. Prepare Capital Appropriation Request for related projects.
  • Collaborate with Lean PPI Teams, providing assistance as required for implementation of 5S, Lead-time reduction, one-piece flow, optimum plant layout, etc.
  • Support Practical Process Improvements (PPI) and Cost Improvement Projects (CIP) as a regular practice in day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor adherence to recommended safety procedures and good housekeeping.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing specifications, i.e., Standard Work, Routings, and other related technical input and documentation.
  • Assist in planning new facilities and operations.
  • Stay current on new process technologies and techniques. Apply these ideas to new and existing processes, as appropriate.
  • Provide information and recommendations for various management systems.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities, as needed.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering strongly preferred; equivalent applicable work experience may be considered.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, tools and application.(Co-ops apply)
  • 2+ years working experience in a manufacturing environment with ISO quality standards strongly preferred.(Co-ops apply)
  • Ability to conduct critical analysis and assessments to develop strategic action plans.
  • Strong Lean Manufacturing background
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems through effective application of root cause analysis and countermeasure methodology.
  • Experienced in advanced data collection, measuring, analysis, improvement and control. Understands and applies the PDSA cycle.
  • Ability to effectively lead project teams through entire improvement cycle, starting with project definition and ending with standardization of solutions.
  • Must be able to lead and manage change effectively.
  • Strong project management & facilitation skills.
  • Experience in teaching through formal sessions as well as individual mentoring.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $83,300.00-$125,000.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
