Job description

The Refined Products Market Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting refined products market fundamentals, with a primary focus on middle distillates, including diesel, jet fuel, and related blending components. The role will also support analysis of gasoline markets.

This position will help develop actionable market insights to support trading, commercial, and strategic decision-making. The analyst should be able to work with large datasets, identify changes in supply and demand balances, and communicate key market drivers clearly to internal stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain supply and demand fundamental models for refined products, with a primaryfocus on middle distillates market balances across the U.S. and LATAM markets.

• Develop short- and medium-term forecasts for distillate supply, demand, inventories, imports,exports, refinery yields, and regional balances.

• Support gasoline market analysis, including supply/demand trends, blending economics,inventories, refinery production, imports, exports, and seasonal market shifts.

• Track refinery operations, including planned turnarounds and unplanned outages by refinery andunit, and assess impacts on crude runs and refined product supply, especially diesel, jet fuel,gasoline,

• Work with the broader cross-commodity analysis team to develop robust demand forecasts by keyproduct category.

• Conduct daily validation of input data, model outputs, and delivered analysis to ensure accuracy,reliability, and consistency

• Stay current on refined products market developments, including regulatory changes, trade flows,freight economics, refinery margins, inventories, and regional demand trends.

• Identify new market patterns, emerging trends, and potential trading opportunities throughfundamental analysis.

• Prepare clear reports, dashboards, and market updates that communicate key insights to tradingand commercial teams.

• Improve analytical processes through better data sourcing, automation, model enhancements, andstructured market balance work.


Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

• 3-5 years of experience in refined products market analysis, trading analytics, or commercialanalytics, preferably with exposure to middle distillates.

• Strong understanding of refined products fundamentals, including supply/demand balances,refinery operations, inventories, trade flows, and regional pricing drivers.

• Experience working with large, disparate, or unstructured datasets using Excel, SQL, Python, orsimilar analytical tools. Databricks experience is preferred.

• Ability to build, maintain, and interpret market balance models and forecasts.

• Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.

• Ability to identify trends in data and translate analysis into practical commercial insights.

• Effective team player with strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex marketdynamics clearly.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, International Trade, AppliedScience, or a related field.
