Description
Materials Analysis Engineer responsible for analysis of materials used in the production and handling of integrated circuits.
Responsibilities
  • Execute FA functions including Chemical and Plasma De-processing, Cross Sectioning, Junction Staining, Optical and SEM microscopy, EDS, SEM Backscatter, Laser Isolation, the use of a FIB (Focused Ion Beam) and C-SAM (Scanning Acoustic Microscopy).
  • Provide package, wafer or die level cross-sectioning, parallel polishing, and strip-back analysis for Failure Analysis, Quality, or IC Recreation.
  • Operate a wide variety of FA tools to identify root cause of failures.
  • Write and maintain Failure Analysis Lab procedures.
  • Work closely with Product and Test Engineering to identify root cause of IC failures; report out any findings.
  • Perform installations of FA equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure proper working order of the tool.
  • Prioritize analysis jobs if needed.
  • Write and maintain material analysis specifications
  • Works cross functionally with Product, Assembly and Test Engineers to support material analysis efforts to ensure that customer and supplier projects are executed on time with high quality.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in microelectronics, physics, or electrical engineering, or other related fiel
  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of semiconductor products, device layout, and process technologies
  • Familiarity or experience with a wide variety of FA tools to identify root cause of failures (including but not limited to: JEOL IT700HR with EDAX and JEOL 6401FV, polishers, Reactive Ion Etcher, jet etcher, x-ray)
  • Understanding of device physics and semiconductor fabrication techniques.
  • Must be able to work with chemical and physical de-processing with an attention to detail.
  • Must be able to handle several active projects at one time (multitask).
  • Must have good communication skill to interface with Customers and Suppliers.
  • Must be very organized and detail oriented.
