Job description

The Senior DevOps Engineer will be a key investment towards improving overall DevOps maturity for AI/ML implementations. The Senior Engineer will further Humana IT's mission to fortify security, implement standardized pipeline templates, and reduce friction while expediting value delivery, reduce risk, and enhance software quality overall.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will focus on several new and existing AI/ML use cases working closely with application engineers to onboard, provision and plan infrastructure, configurations, and platform to automate the software delivery pipeline. DevOps engineers in Humana IT are skilled at key cloud and automation technologies to advance productivity and developer experience furthering platform engineering.

The Senior DevOps Engineer makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or an equivalent technical field
  • 3+ years' experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Github, Jenkins to automate building, testing, and deploying applications
  • 2+ years' experience building partnerships and implementing automation solutions throughout the software delivery pipeline.
  • Advanced Experience using version control systems (Git, Github etc.) and branching strategies (e.g., GitFlow)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), Helm, Argo CD and pipeline-as-code
  • Experience in scripting languages like Python, Shell scripting, or Ruby, and understanding programming languages such as Java, dot Net, JavaScript, or Go for automation and tool development
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Experience with Docker for creating, deploying, and managing containers, and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
  • Proficiency with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure.

To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$106,900 - $147,000 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
