About the Role

The Bushing Technician supports continuous-strand fiberglass manufacturing by setting, troubleshooting, and optimizing bushing performance at customer plant locations. Working closely with Bushing Design and Support Engineers, this role focuses on improving bushing performance, reducing waste, and supporting global Glass Reinforcements operations through hands-on technical execution, troubleshooting, and plant support.

Key Responsibilities

Environment, Health & Safety

  • Live and promote the OC Safety standards and safety responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to zero injuries and safe operating practices

  • Identify hazards and support compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements

Engineering & Plant Support

  • Serve as primary contact for GR plants regarding bushing and alloy issues (under engineer direction)

  • Issue and maintain hardware packages and checklists for plant use

  • Support troubleshooting of bushing performance, life, and failure analysis

  • Assist with bushing trials, including new designs and process validation

  • Respond to plant technical inquiries in coordination with engineers

  • Develop project outlines with plant teams and engineering support

  • Provide practical solutions to bushing and process-related problems

  • Complete inspection reports and share findings with plants and alloy teams

  • Support plant rebuild activities and field implementation efforts

  • Conduct bead and break studies during evaluations and upset conditions

  • Track and analyze data from trial bushings across GR plants

  • Audit SOPs at plants to ensure proper usage and compliance

  • Support execution of action plans at plant level to drive improvements

  • Submit work requests for print modifications and lab testing as needed

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field (Preferred)

  • 2–5 years of experience in bushing process engineering or operations

  • Experience applying root cause analysis and continuous improvement methods

  • Willingness to travel up to 40% to service multiple plant locations in the following locations (less travel for Amarillo residents):
    - Guelph, Canada
    - Amarillo, TX
    - Wichita Falls, TX
    - Tlaxcala, MX

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills across all organizational levels

  • Experience with Java or other object-oriented programming languages (preferred technical capability requirement)
