We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op for Fall 2026 to join our Silicon Photonics (SiPh) Mechanical Engineering Group in North Reading, MA.
Our team is responsible for the design and development of Teradyne's Photon100 Semiconductor Test Systems, supporting cutting-edge photonics technologies. As a co-op, you will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world hardware systems, contributing directly to product development, prototype validation, and lab-based testing.
This role offers a hands-on engineering experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with meaningful ownership of tasks and exposure to advanced semiconductor test equipment.
This position is on-site at our North Reading, MA office from June/July-December.
What You'll Do
As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op, you will apply your academic knowledge to practical engineering challenges, including:
  • Supporting the assembly and validation of engineering prototypes
  • Executing lifecycle and reliability testing in the lab
  • Collecting and analyzing performance and reliability data
  • Designing components using SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, and drawings)
  • Supporting basic simulations (motion and FEA, as applicable)
  • Collaborating with cross-functional team members in design reviews and lab activities
  • Presenting technical results and findings in a clear, organized, and professional manner

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering
  • Completed at least two years of coursework (third- or fourth-year students preferred)
  • Experience with SolidWorks (part modeling, drawings, and assemblies)
  • Basic understanding of:
    • GD&T (ANSI Y14.5)
    • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
    • Measurement techniques and lab equipment
  • Hands-on experience with common shop tools and lab equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.

Compensation:
The base hourly range for this role is $25.50-$47.00. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.
