Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, performs somewhat complex assignments regarding UL/CSA certification requests and project testing with full responsibility. In general, the project work is reviewed by a reviewing Engineer or Department Manager.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages somewhat complex project work for UL/CSA certifications.
  • Assists Senior Project Leader with complex certification projects.
  • Interface with Lab Supervisor and Technicians as a part of project management
  • Obtains UL & CSA certification to participate in the Data Submittal Programs for UL & CSA approvals
  • Assist in development and the build of test fixtures as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.


EDUCATION, SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE NEEDED:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Has up to 1 to 3 years of professional experience.
  • Proficient computer skills in Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Electro / mechanical aptitude.
  • Good writing and communication skills.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to communicate with project engineers, technicians and office staff.
  • Ability to communicate with UL/CSA engineers and technicians and build good working relationships.


REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to diagnose complex problems that may occur during testing or test fixture building by defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions as to the situation. Problem solve, asses a situation and keep the project on track. Need to be able to analyze UL/CSA standard requirements and apply them to Outdoor power equipment lines.


ADDITIONAL EDUCATION, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Management training.
  • Knowledge of Outdoor power equipment operation.
  • Be familiar with UL/CSA standards
  • A good understanding of Electrical/Electronic theory and circuit operation.


V. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, or reach.
  • May occasionally be required to lift, push, or pull items up to 65 lbs.
  • Able to work in an environment that may be subjected to occasional loud noises.
