Job description

Position: Japanese Bilingual Accounting Manager (Full-time/Direct Hire)
Location: Torrance, CA
Work Hours: 9:00am - 6:00pm

Our client, a well-established company in the food and beverage industry, is looking to hire a full-time Accounting Manager who is fluent in Japanese.

This role is focused on day-to-day accounting operations management and ensuring accounting functions run smoothly and efficiently. The position is hands-on and requires someone who can take ownership of accounting processes, maintain accuracy, and support operational excellence.

This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who has strong hands-on experience and is looking to take the next step in their career. The company is open to candidates with Assistant Manager or Senior Supervisor-level experience who are motivated to grow into an Accounting Manager role. High-level Accounting Manager experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely completion of accounting activities
  • Coordinate with outsourced accounting service providers responsible for front-end accounting functions
  • Manage and monitor accounting processes to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Review accounting transactions, reconciliations, and financial records for accuracy
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Prepare and submit monthly financial reports and accounting updates to overseas headquarters
  • Coordinate with overseas headquarters regarding accounting matters, reporting requirements, and financial inquiries
  • Maintain proper accounting procedures, documentation, and internal controls
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial stakeholders during audits and tax filings
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support business operations
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience
  • Accounting experience within the food and beverage industry is required
  • Japanese/English bilingual ability is required; conversational-level proficiency is acceptable
  • Experience at the Senior Accountant level or above is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting, including general ledger (GL) management, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Proven experience managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial accounting software
  • Strong Excel skills (intermediate to advanced level), including financial analysis and reporting functions
  • Strong computer skills and IT literacy, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new accounting systems and business software
  • Positive, collaborative, and team-oriented personality with strong communication and interpersonal skills
