House & Garden is looking for an experienced and highly organised Digital Editor to play a central role in the day-to-day running of the brand's digital editorial operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong Digital Editor and commissioner to help drive House & Garden's online output across web, newsletters and emerging platforms while maintaining the brand's editorial authority, visual identity and tone of voice.

The successful candidate will have significant experience editing and commissioning digital content within a design environment, alongside a strong understanding of audience behaviour, SEO, homepage strategy and publishing workflows. They will be passionate about interiors, houses, decoration, gardens and design, with excellent editorial judgement and a sharp instinct for the stories and formats that resonate with the House & Garden audience.

Reporting into the Digital Director the Digital Editor will oversee the daily digital publishing schedule, manage homepage programming and support the execution of House & Garden's digital growth strategy. They will play a key role in ensuring the brand's content output is timely, distinctive, visually compelling and optimised for audience engagement.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Digital Director to execute House & Garden's day-to-day digital editorial strategy across web, newsletters and key publishing platforms.

  • Own and manage the daily digital publishing schedule, ensuring content is planned, commissioned, edited and published efficiently and strategically.

  • Oversee and regularly update the House & Garden homepage, ensuring it is visually engaging, dynamic and aligned with editorial priorities, audience interests and seasonal moments.

  • Commission, edit and publish digital-first stories across houses, interiors, decoration, gardens, design, lifestyle and trends.

  • Support the Digital Director on commissioning priorities, helping to develop a strong pipeline of evergreen and search-led content that supports audience growth and long-term traffic performance.

  • Work with Audience development and real-time analytics to inform publishing decisions and ensure content optimised for SEO, affiliate opportunities, audience engagement and platform best practice.

  • Support the smooth running of daily digital workflows, ensuring deadlines, publishing schedules and editorial standards are consistently met.

  • Collaborate closely with social, video, visuals and editorial teams to maximise the reach and impact of House & Garden's content.

  • Deputise for the Digital Director where required and help support junior members of the digital editorial team.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with freelance writers, contributors and industry contacts across interiors, decoration and design.

Essential Skills & Requirements
  • Significant experience in a senior editorial role within publishing or media.

  • Strong editing, commissioning and homepage management experience.

  • Excellent understanding of digital publishing workflows, SEO best practice and audience development strategies.

  • Experience managing publishing schedules and working to multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong knowledge of analytics tools and confidence using performance data to inform editorial decisions.

  • Demonstrable interest and knowledge in interiors, houses, decoration, gardens and design.

  • Excellent editorial judgement with a strong visual eye and understanding of House & Garden's aesthetic.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Collaborative, proactive and calm under pressure with excellent communication skills.

  • Experience working with CMS platforms, newsletters and digital publishing tools
