Job description

Exciting and rewarding opportunity to join a dedicated team of professionals working with individuals with disabilities.

Janus Developmental Services, Inc. is seeking a Social Services Support Specialist to work collaboratively with the Janus team to provide exceptional support to individuals receiving services at Janus. This position manages a participant caseload with the Social Services Coordinator, ensuring individuals receive person-centered services while maintaining strong relationships with families, referral sources, and internal staff. The Specialist will assist with participant admissions, behavioral support, service planning, and ongoing communication to promote successful outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of participants receiving services at Janus.
  • Conduct participant intakes and assist individuals and families through the enrollment process.
  • Build relationships with referral sources, schools, Vocational Rehabilitation, case managers, and community partners to increase participation in Janus programs.
  • Maintain regular communication with participants' families and guardians regarding services, goals, and progress.
  • Collaborate with program managers, direct support professionals, employment staff, and leadership to ensure coordinated services.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior support strategies in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate personcentered planning and ensure participant needs are addressed across programs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participant records while ensuring compliance with agency and state requirements.
  • Assist with problemsolving participant concerns and provide appropriate resources and referrals.
  • Work requires high workload and a lot of independence. Some days behavior meetings will occur after 4:00pm. Must be able to handle behavior issues as they arise and work with families and residential staff to problem solve. Must have the ability to calmly discuss issues with an upset parent or guardian.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and interdisciplinary planning sessions.
  • Support participant retention and successful engagement in Janus programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED, some postsecondary education preferred or equivalent work experience/combination of both.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong understanding of personcentered planning and behavioral support practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with participants, families, community partners, and coworkers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
