Job description

Job Summary:

The Copy Room Aide supports the Copy Room Assistant  and the Copy Room Supervisor in the performance of various duties, tasks, and responsibilities including transporting interoffice mail, sorting parcels from the United States Post Office to ensure that they are delivered the proper department, sorting regular US mail and distributing to appropriate parties, making copies as required by teachers, administrators and others in the school to serve the needs of the student body.
Essential Functions:

  • Sorts packages and groups them into different categories for easy dispatch and safe handling during delivery to prevent damage of sensitive packages if they were mixed up with non-sensitive ones
  • Collects mail and packages from staff at the School, including spelt out addresses of where they will be sent to
  • Works with courier services and postal offices
  • Checks various postal rates and weight options to get best prices to save cost
  • Fills relevant details in distribution and shipping forms, providing accurate information to ensure that mails are delivered to the right locations and people
  • Keeps the mailroom organized by properly arranges the bundles of mail and packages coming in to prevent littering and jam-packing in the office space
  • Weighs employee items to be mailed to get the right weights and assigns the proper amount of postage to them
  • Provides copies of papers and documents to the teachers and administrators as needed to aide in student instruction
  • Understands how to properly use and operate a sophisticated copy machines
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
  • FBI Criminal Background Clearance


Demonstrated Knowledge of:

  • Mailroom operations
  • Proficiency in automated copy machines
  • Problem-solving techniques

Demonstrated Ability to:

  • Work under pressure, meet deadlines, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, receivers, and the management to avoid errors in sending mails
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators
