Job: Control and Electrical Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Summary:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for control system design, data acquisition system design, specialty test equipment, and simulation. He or she designs, develops, and tests equipment, and machinery. This individual will be responsible for recommending, specifying, modeling, designing, and testing a system provides controls and data acquisition based on sensor data and external inputs. He or she applies knowledge of engineering principles to design systems and products required by the company.
Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and appropriate experience level in the field or in a related area. Advanced degrees (MS and PhD) are desirable and will be evaluated on a cases-by-case bases as years of experience in a related area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Primary design of the project control system software, Matlab/Simulink simulation and modeling, software development and wiring schematics. Control code generation using Simulink Coder.
  • Primary design of data acquisition system to provide input to the control system and record all system data.
  • Interface with 3rd party systems to record data and acquire signals necessary for the control system.
  • Participate in the testing, modeling, simulation, and analysis of electromechanical control system and components
  • Analysis of system data to determine control system effectiveness
  • Define and develop primary control software and interfacing hardware components including system level design and layout from component level requirements.
  • Design of electronics, electronic interfaces and communication with Modbus industrial systems and J1939 engine control systems
  • Review, develop, and comment on technical documentation (requirements, CAD files, test plans/reports, technical review documents, engineering change documents)
  • Provide technical support to vendor base as necessary and participate in vendor selection and meetings as necessary
  • Develop testing requirements and participate in testing as necessary to ensure compliance
  • Development of independent analytical models and analysis tools
  • Tasks will involve interaction with other technical disciplines, working as part of a team
  • Assist in development of technical proposals and cost estimates in support of new business

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical system design and simulation
  • Strong proficiency in model development, simulation and analysis in Matlab/Simulink
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office
  • Prefer experience with both Modbus and SAE J1939 or other CAN bus systems.
  • Defense, automotive and industrial industry experience preferred
  • Any MIL-SPEC experience is desirable
  • Solid understanding of the verification and validation process including test plan development, system evaluation, data collection and analysis
  • Experience in testing to improve reliability, HALT, HASS testing
  • Appropriate interpersonal style to work effectively with all other team members in a dynamic and enjoyable work environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States
