Job Summary (RN - ED) โ€“ List Format
- Facility Overview:
- Work at a 16-bed free standing emergency department (no trauma designation) in Charlotte, NC
- Offers 24/7 on-site X-ray, CT, and Ultrasound; limited outpatient STAT imaging on weekdays
- Department Details:
- Handles approximately 68 ED visits per day for patients of all ages
- About a 10% admission rate; treats common ED and behavioral health diagnoses
- Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI certifications required (NRP preferred)
- Traveler must live at least 50 miles from facility
- Patient Care:
- RN to patient ratio typically 1:4
- General ED skills needed: cardiac rhythm interpretation, critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation
- Support Staff:
- Charge RN (no patient assignment)
- Paramedic on-site (1p-1a)
- Respiratory Therapist (RT) and Imaging staff in-house 24/7, all cross-trained for patient care
- Technology:
- Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris pumps, Omnicell, Panda Warmer
- Staffing & Shifts:
- Day shift: 4 RNs start at 0700; 2 more at 1100; 1 more at 1500
- Night shift: 4 RNs start at 1900 (12-hour shift)

- 6-week scheduling cycle
- Floating:
- Must be willing to float to other regional facilities as needed within scope of practice
- Orientation:
- Facility orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
- Scheduling Notes:
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call shifts
- Must work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days off approved (excluding holiday weeks); may need to extend contract for unmet hours
