Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 offers the Guest Teacher Training on behalf of Lancaster and Lebanon County school districts. Individuals who have earned a bachelor's degree in any content area are eligible to enroll in the program. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) allows school districts and intermediate units to apply for an emergency certification for qualified applicants. Applicants completing the Guest Teacher Training requirements are eligible to substitute in IU13 classrooms and area school districts.
The Guest Teacher Training program consists of an online video training: Act 126 Training (approximate total viewing time of 1.5 hours) and a one day in-person training at Lancaster-Lebanon IU13.
Application Process:
Before an applicant can be enrolled in the in-person training, the following items MUST be completed prior to the in-person training date:
  • Online application

Guest Teacher applications will be reviewed and if approved to move forward, applicants will be contacted to set up a time for an interview. If selected for an interview, the Guest Teacher applicant must be available. Interviews will be conducted virtually and will last approximately 30 minutes. Applicants who are selected for the program will be notified by email. The Guest Teacher must be available to attend the mandatory in-person training on the date you select from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
  • 2 completed Reference Forms (from individuals you have worked for or with. Do not include personal references. References will be sent out electronically after registration confirmation)

  • $30 non-refundable* registration fee (to be paid via credit card online after GTT interview)

  • Guest Teacher Interview (virtual - dates will be annouced when choosing in person training date)

  • Act 126 virtual training (sent to you electronically through Panapto after training registration)

  • Sealed or Electronic original transcript confirming bachelor's degree - Guest Teacher transcripts must be OFFICIAL and must be mailed or sent electronically from your college/university to Lancaster-Lebanon IU13 - we cannot accept transcripts uploaded as part of your application. Please email transcripts to gtt@iu13.org
  • PA Criminal Clearance
  • Child Abuse Clearance
  • FBI Clearance
    • For FBI Fingerprinting at IU13 (Lancaster Office): www.iu13.org/FingerprintingAppointments.
    • For FBI Fingerprinting at another location: go to the IdentoGO website.
  • Health physical (obtained less than one year prior to training date & documented on the School Personnel Health Record Form)
  • TB test (obtained less than 3 months prior to training date & documented on the School Personnel Health Record Form)

The following forms will be sent after completion of the interview:
  • W-4
  • PSERS form
  • Act 29 & Act 24 forms

** NOTE: Clearances must be obtained within the last 12 months prior to the date of the in-person training. You may not use clearances that were obtained for volunteer purposes.
