Purpose and Impact:
In support of a challenging, critical, and rewarding program that provides integrated voice, video, and data services throughout the Information Technology lifecycle, Amentum is seeking a ServiceNow Engineer - Senior to join our dynamic team of IT professionals dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. You must be a critical thinker, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently or as a member of a team in a dynamic environment. We value candidates who are detail-oriented while also being able to think and react quickly to emerging and unique problem sets. To be successful, you must be able to rapidly adapt and learn how to operate the front and back end of new products and processes.
Work Schedule: 5 Days (Mon - Fri); 8 hrs/Day; 40 hrs/wkly
Essential Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior ServiceNow Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Design, develop, configure, and maintain ServiceNow applications, modules, and integrations in support of enterprise ITSM and ITOM capabilities.
  • Administer and sustain the on-premises/self-hosted ServiceNow instance, ensuring performance, compliance, and availability.
  • Implement and enhance core applications such as Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, CMDB, Service Catalog, and Service Portal/Employee Center.
  • Develop custom applications, UI Policies, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, and Workflow Studio logic aligned with business requirements.
  • Manage data imports, transformations, and integrations via REST/SOAP APIs, LDAP, and other data exchange mechanisms.
  • Apply CSDM principles to maintain accurate service mapping and CMDB data relationships.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to ensure adherence to DoD security and accreditation requirements.
  • Support patching, upgrades, and release deployments while ensuring backwards compatibility and minimal service disruption.
  • Participate in Agile sprint cycles, backlog grooming, and technical design sessions.
  • Conduct impact analyses, architectural reviews, and document new functionality or integrations.
  • Continuously research emerging ServiceNow features, plugins, and best practices to improve platform maturity.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and document complex technical issues; provide Tier 3 escalation support.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to align ServiceNow capabilities with organizational objectives.

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI
  • 5 years of relevant experience in software design, development, or enterprise platform engineering
  • 3+ years of ServiceNow platform administration and maintenance (on-prem or hosted), and ServiceNow development experience (Glide scripting, Workflow Studio, UI customization, integrations)
  • Proficiency with Web technologies such as JavaScript, Ajax, HTML, Jelly, and CSS
  • Experience with LDAP, SSO, and Web Service integrations (REST/SOAP APIs)
  • Strong understanding of ITIL practices and ServiceNow governance principles
  • Demonstrated ability to perform both operational sustainment and full-stack development within the ServiceNow ecosystem
  • Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday.
  • Ability to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed.
  • Ability to travel (5-10%) primarily within 75 miles.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project, and Visio.
  • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

Security Clearance Required:
  • Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI

Minimum Education:
  • High School Diploma

Minimum Years of Experience:
  • 5 years of relevant experience

Required Certifications:
Must possess or be able to obtain a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) Certification and a one of the following 8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certifications before start date:
  • Level II certs include - CCNA Security, CySA+, CND, Security+ CE
  • Level III certs include - CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in IT related field (or better)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) Certification
  • SerciceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in ITSM, ITOM, or SPM
  • Background working within DoD or government IT service management environments
