JOB TITLE: Accounting Clerk III AGENCY: US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) POSITION INFORMATION: Full-Time Position POSITION TIMING: Position requires a CBP Government security clearance which can take 2-3+ months to process and must be complete prior to candidate starting work. LOCATION: Onsite โ€“ Major General Emmett J. Bean Federal Center (Bean Federal Center) โ€“ 8899 E. 56th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46249 COMPENSATION: $23.10/hr. You also receive an additional $5.55 per hour Health & Welfare used towards ITC's benefits plan. ITCโ€™s mission is to apply earned expertise in DevSecOps, Cloud Computing, Federal Financial Systems, App Dev, and Cyber Security to assist our clients in achieving their mission. The Revenue Division provides overall direction involving financial systems, processes, and procedures related to CBP revenue operations. It collects, deposits, and refunds collections and receivables. It also manages processes, coordinates related activities with CBP field operations, and monitors internal control issues pertaining to programs in support of CBP responsibility to safeguard the revenue. The Accounting Clerk III is responsible for performing advanced clerical and customer service duties in support of financial operations. This position provides assistance through a help desk environment and processes payments related to fees collected on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from individuals who have overstayed their permitted stay within the United States. The role requires accuracy, discretion, and professionalism while handling sensitive information. Responsibilities * Serve as the primary point of contact at the help desk, responding to inquiries in person, by phone, and by email.
* Collect, record, and process payments of fees in accordance with established procedures and federal requirements.
* Verify payment accuracy, issue receipts, and maintain detailed transaction records.
* Reconcile daily collections and prepare deposit reports.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and applicable regulations.
* Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive financial and personal information.
* Provide courteous and professional customer service to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
* Assist with periodic audits and reporting as required.
* Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRED: * High school diploma or GED required, associate degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
* Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible accounting or financial clerical experience.
* Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
* Strong knowledge of bookkeeping practices, cash handling, and reconciliation procedures.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Ability to work with individuals in sensitive or stressful situations with tact and professionalism.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and accounting systems.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable regulations. DESIRED: * Bi-lingual in Spanish, desired
