What does an Italian Wine Director do?

An Italian Wine Director is responsible for curating, selecting, and managing the Italian wine program at a restaurant, hotel, or wine-focused establishment. Their duties typically include creating the wine list, training staff on Italian wines, organizing tastings and events, and ensuring the wine selection complements the menu. They often build relationships with Italian wine producers and importers to source unique and high-quality bottles, and may oversee inventory and manage wine-related budgets. The role requires deep knowledge of Italian wine regions, grape varieties, and current trends in the industry.
