Job description

The IT System Administrator I is a technical position within IT Engineering team, responsible for the support, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of hardware and software systems throughout Golden Valley Health Centers (GVHC). Working in close collaboration with senior IT System Administrators, responsible for evaluation and implementation services of new products, technologies and solutions to address organization wide business requirements.Β 

This position will work at our Atwater Administrative site.
Schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
Compensation: $34.98 - $36.73 an hour

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesΒ Β Β Β 

  • Administer, maintain and update server and data storage infrastructure components to provide optimal security, performance and availability.
  • Provide tier 3 support to identify, diagnose and resolve incidents and problems.
  • Lead low to medium complexity projects involving one or more team members to design, install, implement new or modify existing systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors as required to support all network services and computer systems.
  • Create knowledge articles, logical diagrams, physical diagrams and other supporting documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and utilize PowerShell or other scripting technologies to address low to medium complexity automation opportunities that improve processes and reduce support efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Min. Qualifications

  • Demonstrates effective communication and problem solving skills.
  • Experience administering Windows servers, storage arrays and virtualization technologies.
  • Solid knowledge of Active Directory Domain Services, Active Directory Certificate Services, Group Policy Management, DNS, Web Server IIS and Window Server Update Services.
  • Understanding of networking technologies including routers, switches, wireless, firewalls, and the various components of the LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies, including development of project timelines, scope, task and deliverable tracking, leading project meetings and conducting service transition.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell and Python.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15-30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Travel between GVHC sites may be required using either a GVHC-owned or personal vehicle. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but at times you may be required to work in server rooms with noise levels in keeping with that atmosphere, including server and fan noise, A/C cooling noise and cold temperatures, networking equipment noise and fans, etc.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or Competency Certificate required.
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience required OR Associate Degree or Certifications with information technology focus with (2) years of relevant experience required.
  • Relevant Microsoft system/server certification, Cisco network certification, or other certifications will be considered in lieu of an Associate Degree.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Solution Associate (MCSA) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification strongly preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Class C California Driver’s License, acceptable driving history and proof of liability insurance.
